6th March. This one was very exciting – brand new parkrun, with the parkrun boss, PSH, and the funkins too. We had a lovely day out.
There was a tiny turnout of fewer than 20 people, so my aim was to make the podium again. I managed better than that – I won the bloody thing! First lady, first in age group (obviously) and 6th overall. Rubbish time but I didn’t care – I’d won and set the course record. (Which still stands 2 weeks later!) I think it may be the slowest win and slowest course record in parkrun history. Yay me!
David won, PSH was second and Sharon was just happy to finish with a very bad back.
Only downside was they haven’t finished building the cafe yet, so we went to the nearest Costa instead.
Hi Kirsty – Thanks very much for coming out to support our new parkrun, and also for spreading the word in your blog. Do feel free to come back and visit us any time, and try to improve your course record maybe!
I know how important a good cafe is to a parkrun, so I’d just like to mention that although the new cafe is under construction, there is a little hut that’s open serving teas, coffees, cake and bacon sandwiches! It does seem less of a chore to get up early on a saturday morning if you know there’s a bacon sandwich in it for you.
